                                                  Plan and lead groups at senior care facilities in Wake County, North Carolina on a                                                      part-time basis.

10/2010-3/2012                     Howard County Office on Aging, Maryland.  Contractual Art Therapist.  Conducted                                                       groups at three separate senior centers.

 

10/2008-10/2010                  Howard County Public Schools.   Substitute art teacher:  Give instruction to                                                                  students in the elementary school setting.          

 

07/2008-08/2008                   Workshop Leader:  led a weekly group for pre-school aged children for them to                                                         explore the qualities of different art materials.

 

10/2004-12/2004                   Workshop leader:  Hosted a weekly art session for a small group of adults aimed at                                                   providing participants with a regular outlet for creative self-expression.

                                                   Conducted art therapy groups for the center’s older adult participants.   These                                                            groups addressed such issues as grieving and life review, as well as symptoms                                                        related to stroke, dementia, and arthritis. Documentation of art therapy services,                                                       i ncluding progress notes and monthly administrative reports. Participation in                                                             treatment team meetings.

                                                   Taught two Saturday classes: one for adolescents with developmental disabilities                                                      and one for adults with developmental disabilities.  Adapted projects and                                                                    equipment  to address different developmental levels of functioning. OTHER EXPERIENCE:                

I am well-versed in such art media as drawing, painting, ceramics, and printmaking.  Some other interests include reading, playing piano, cooking, gardening, and especially, spending time with my son and daughter (born in 2003 and 2005).  Extensive international travel over the years, most significantly, one year spent overseas in London and Edinburgh (1990-1991).  I can read and speak French.
